Callum Piggott -

Archery is something I have always wanted to try but never found the time to start. Then came Covid 19 and suddenly I had all the time in the world to learn something new. In June 2020 after the first Lockdown in the UK, I bought my first bow, did a beginners course, and was on my way.

I quickly entered some club competitions and an event at Lilleshall that summer before the UK went back into Lockdown. In February 2021, I met Patrick Huston at a training session and would see him over the following weeks. I knew he was the coach for me, so my mum contacted him, and to this day, it is the best decision I have ever made.

I spent the next 10 months working on my technique, building stamina, and learning about the sport of Archery. By the end of 2021, I was impressed with how far I had come and how much my scores had improved. That December, I won the Junior National Indoor Championships for the first time.

Over the next two and a half years I won the Junior National Indoor two more times and the Outdoor once.  I’ve won Junior National titles in Clout and Field and hold 5 National Records and finished in the top 5 at two National Tour events.

In the summer of 2023, I represented GB at the European Youth Cup in Switzerland, the European Field Championships in Italy where I won a Team Bronze, and in 2024 the European Youth Cup in Bulgaria.

I am currently working towards two more Youth International selections before moving out of the junior competitions at the end of this year.

What does the future hold for me? Hard work, dedication, and a positive self-belief that I will continue to improve and take my success into the next stage of my archery career.
