Ieuan Thomas -
I took up shooting in 2012 with North Gwent Archers after seeing it on the Olympics that year.
I began shooting barebow recurve which then became traditional and instinctive archery, and I got on fairly well, winning a few Welsh tournaments in youth categories. From there, I got my hands on a compound and never looked back.
My first compound bow was a Bowtech Admiral, and I loved every second of shooting it until I outgrew it. I’ve shot a variety of brands in my tenure of compound, and I’ve been lucky enough to compete in the European Field Archery Champs in Germany, 2017 where I took second after a gruelling five days of shooting.
I have always been a majority field archer who dabbles in target now and again. I love the unique challenges that each and every field course presents, and I can only recommend people give field a shot!
After a forced break due to illness, I’m now finding my footing again on the competitive scene and working myself back to where I was prior to illness.
