Kevin Macey -

I only started Archery in 2017 and spent the first 1 ½ years with a Recurve Bow but could never really settle finding this quite frustrating. For a Christmas present, my wife got me a ‘Make your own Long Bow’ weekend (which I thoroughly recommend). Once the bow was made, the following weekend I was in Wales Archery getting a set of arrows to match the newly made bow. I have never touched a Recurve Bow since!

Spending as much time as I can at the range, both indoor and out I have managed to go from strength to strength.

I have come 3rd in the National Indoor Championships the twice it has been held, won the Seniors Master last year and set numerous County Records.

Last year 2021, with some fantastic support from other Long Bowers I manage to get my Grand Master classification. All of this has been supported by Wales Archery, who have been brilliant.

My goals for this year are to again get the Grand Master Classification and was ranked 5th in the country.

I have entered the UK Master and can’t wait to see what I can do there.
