Lorna Stevens -
I started archery in winter 2015, completing my beginners course at Cheltenham Archers. A few months later I shot at my first tournament, the Gloucestershire Indoor County Championships, and was instantly hooked on shooting, competing and generally trying to improve. In the years since then I've worked hard on my form, strength and stamina, with the help of my brilliant coach, and have been able reach some significant milestones in my shooting. There's a lot more I'd like to achieve though so the hard work continues and hopefully so will the progress.
Outdoor Summary:
I've really enjoyed getting back into shooting competitively after time out due to the pandemic. Several lockdowns meant that I was able to concentrate on technique changes without the pressure of having to shoot tournaments at the same time.
My highlights from this summer were coming 6th at the UK Masters, maintaining my MB classification for a second year, ranking 14th nationally, and getting a couple of really significant PBs.
I will be attending the British Indoor Championships and my County Indoor Championships in February. I'm also shooting a field archery league over this winter, which I'm really enjoying so far. Most of my winter, however, will be focused on continuing to build strength and stamina, and continuing to improve my technique.
