Vicky Flanagan -

Although you may see me on target lists and rankings as Victoria Flanagan, please call me Vicky.  I have not been Victoria since I was 10 and in my mother’s bad books!

I took up archery later in life (mid 30’s) after watching the 2012 Olympic games and realising that, even at my age, there was a sport out there that didn’t necessarily require me to be in my 20’s to achieve some success.  Half-way through my beginner’s course I was hooked.

I started out shooting recurve, as many archers do, and was ok at it, making it to 2nd in Wales.  I took up Compound 3 years ago after losing my enthusiasm for indoor recurve archery.

I immediately realised I had found the bow style for me.  I loved it from the minute I picked up my first second-hand bow from Wales Archery and worked out how to shoot it.  Since then, I have worked hard on my technique and mental game to get the best out of myself.

Shooting is my hobby, I use all the spare time I have to practice and improve and the enjoyment it brings me is unmeasurable.  Competing makes me happy and I am not afraid to admit my competitive streak.  Everyone needs that thing in their life that is just for them, and Archery is mine.
