Sophie Twigg -

I have been involved in archery since the age of 11.  My father was a member of our local archery club, Brixham Archers. He thought my sister and I would enjoy having a go, with the added benefit of getting us out from under his feet...

Only two weeks into the beginners course I had a nasty accident at school and broke my ankle, which unfortunately meant that the remainder of the course was completed stood on only one leg (something I'm sure helps me with my field shooting..)

I initially started off shooting NFAS with my dad's one piece wooden recurve, but soon after a member of the club let me try their longbow. From that point I was hooked and have shot longbow ever since.

After shooting field for a while and traveling all over the country, I started to shoot some Archery GB target competitions, and found I was actually quite good. As a junior I competed for the county and broke many county, regional and national records, some of which still stand today.

I took a brief break from archery while I completed my degree, but came back to the sport around 8 years ago. It was soon after I met my husband, Rob, when my local club hosted a competition.

I have held my Grand Master Bowman classification for the past 6 years and ranked number 2 in the country for the last 3 years.

This season, my goal is to continue improving my personal best scores and maintain my GMB classification.
